Meet Dock

Dock came to live with us in November of 2000 when he was about 10 weeks old. When we decided to get a dog there were 2 things we took into consideration: 1) we needed a “hypo-allergenic” dog, and 2) we wanted a puppy because we were inexperienced dog owners. A friend told us to look at Portuguese Water Dogs and we went to the official PWD Web site and that was the end of the search – we found true love on the Internet!

We had not seen Dock before we adopted him but when we got to the breeder’s house and met him we knew that he was the one. Dock was (and still is) very timid. For the longest time after he came to live with us he would not venture out of our yard in the dark. At first we regretted naming him Dock, but now realize it is the perfect name for him. He is probably the only PWD who is petrified of water – so when he is near water he refuses to move from the dock. He has the perfect name and he is the perfect dog for us. We are all crazy in love with him!
